Schloss Schadau

Thun, Thunersee

Tap a star to rate

Schloss Schadau sits right on Lake Thun, which means ceremonies and aperitifs can happen outdoors with a full lake panorama. Inside, the Rougemont hall seats up to 70 guests for dinner. The civil registry office holds monthly civil ceremonies on the grounds, always on Thursday afternoons, marrying up to six couples per session. Bookings for these run through the responsible registry office and need to be made about a year ahead.

The neighboring Scherzligkirche dates back to the year 762 and seats 140, which makes a church wedding within walking distance of the reception venue an option. As an extra touch, the castle mentions ceremonies held right on the lake, where the BLS ferry service offers a boat that docks at the house's own jetty. Head chef Norbert Patsch puts together seasonal menus, from flying dinners to five-course evenings.
